Majestic Mountains Needle Arts began as a Charleston area satellite of Tri-Area Needle Arts which is based in Huntington, WV. The organizational meeting was held in August of 1997. Majestic Mountains Needle Arts was chartered December 12, 1997 as a chapter of Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Our first meeting was held at First Presbyterian Church in St. Albans, WV on January 15, 1998 with 20 members present. Since then, we have continued to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage to our members and the public.
Where do you meet?We meet the 3rd Thursday of each month for a short business meeting and usually an education program. Stitchers gather in the meeting room as early as 5:30pm to mingle and stitch before the business meeting begins at 6:15. MMNA is currently searching for a permanent meeting space but for January 2023 we will be meeting at First United Methodist Church, 905 Glendale Ave, South Charleston, WV. Email MMNAega.email@example.com for specific building access info if you plan to join us! If Kanawha Co. Schools close to in person instruction on meeting day for inclement weather, MMNA is cancelled. If Covid19 concerns are high, we will meet via Zoom. Check our website, Facebook page or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you aren't sure.
Are needlework beginners welcome?YES! We were all beginners once and our members vary in their needlework experience. Our only requirement is an interest in the needlework arts and that can be anything created through the eye of a needle.
Does it cost anything to join?To officially join MMNA you need to become a member of EGA, or the Embroiders' Guild of America. Yearly dues are $55.00 which consist of $39.00 national dues, $3.00 regional dues and $13.00 stays in the chapter. Memberships renew in May of each year but you can join at any time for a pro rated amount. Email email@example.com for more information.
What if I'm undecided about joining?Give us a try for free! You can attend up to three monthly meetings before you decide if you'd like to join EGA and enjoy all the perks of membership including NeedleArts Magizine, access to members only projects and education programs as well as participation in any local chapter activities.
